The Transition Steering Group, made up of members from both church communities, continues to meet and is in the process of putting together a draft document outlining key areas for consideration as we work towards uniting the two parishes.
This document will be made available to you, with sections for you to comment on, by the end of August. Both PCC’s are meeting on 9th September and we’ll be inviting you to share your thoughts with PCC members beforehand for their discussion on that day.
We hope to begin the formation of a ‘Transition Team’ (a kind of ‘shadow PCC’) in September for an initial meeting in October as we move forward together. You’ll see more information about this at the start of September.
Please continue to pray for our ongoing conversations, and for all of us as we learn to see God in the changes ahead.
The most popular name for the new parish from the Vision Day was ‘The Parish of Basingstoke Down’. This is the historic name for the geographical area across Kempshott, Beggarwood and Hatch Warren and seems fitting for us as we join together.
Obviously the consultation process is still underway and the changes are subject to the proposals being approved, but as we work towards this we plan for the Parish of Basingstoke Down becoming the parish name going forward. The two churches will keep their individual names.
