Hello! I just want to let you know how the Foodbank is continuing to support people in our Basingstoke area during this time of pandemic and uncertainty.
The Foodbank has moved to a five day a week operation over this last year and has managed to supply 4,000 three-day emergency food parcels directly to people in crisis in Basingstoke.
The way in which the Foodbank operates has had to evolve quickly during this time. We still work closely (now virtually) with our 90+ partner agencies in the community including CAB, Family support Hub, local schools, Housing Associations, Homeless/Addiction Support and many health organisations.
Unfortunately we no longer have people visiting us but instead rely on an amazing band of volunteer delivery drivers to take the food directly to our clients’ doors.
We now have a call-in café model to chat to clients about their specific needs, during COVID we have another band of volunteers that call clients and give them time to discuss anything that we may be able to support them with through our partner agencies. This can range from loneliness, anxiety, homelessness, financial/benefit worries to family breakdown, health concerns or addiction.
Over all of this work, is the power of prayer! Three mornings a week, teams of people from a whole range of Basingstoke churches pray via Zoom for the safe day to day running of the Foodbank and also for very specific prayer requests from individual clients.

- give thanks that the Foodbank has just secured a lease for the next two years at its current location
- pray for protection and safety for the volunteers who sort, pack and deliver parcels every day
- pray that no-one in our communities who needs food misses out
- pray that we continue to have significant conversations that can offer real support to our clients
