At times, anyone can need additional support and care. A small team at St Mark’s, alongside the vicar, is available to provide a listening ear in a friendly and encouraging way. We are available to serve the needs of anyone who lives in the parish.
People who carry out this role are called lay pastors, they are not professionals but they have attended some training courses and therefore have the necessary skills to listen sensitively and understand the importance of trust and confidentiality.
Prayer is of central importance in the Christian faith. We understand that if you’re new here, this may not be something you’re familiar with, however if you wish someone to pray with you, a lay pastor would be the ideal person.
Please be assured all appropriate DBS clearances are in place for the people involved in these roles. If you would like more information, someone to visit you or you know of someone who would benefit from some pastoral care, please contact the church office here or you can phone us on 01256 840502.
