As advertised, this year our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) will be held online on Tuesday 20th October between 7:30pm and 9pm.
But before this, we all have something very important to do! We need to think about people who are be gifted with skills, talents, expertise or personal qualities to fulfil the positions on the Parochial Church Council and the Deanery Synod or to serve as Church Warden.
If you think this could be you, but you’re unsure, please do click though to this page where you’ll find current members of the PCC who’ll be very happy to discuss what the role entails and whether you’d be suited.
If you have someone else in mind, please do approach them and discuss your thoughts, any queries, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with Nicola, Jon (the current PCC Chair) or contact the church office here.
If you’d like to put yourself forward, you’ll need to find someone to nominate you—I’m sure there’ll be plenty of willing volunteers!
The proposer (the person doing the nominating) will need to complete this nomination form and the nominee and seconder will need to complete the forms as directed by the emails that follow.
This year’s APCM is going to be a bit different as we’re doing it on Zoom. So we thought: “Let’s make it a party!”
If you know someone who is not very confident with attending online meetings, why not invite them round to your place for a suitably socially distanced APCM Party? Pour everyone a G&T, or if you prefer a V&T. Or maybe just a Tea. And Cake. Our plan for the evening is to start with a little bit of socialising as folks arrive on the call. Then we’ll have a gathering prayer before getting down to the exciting business of discovering how God worked through the people of Saint Mark’s in 2019, electing some representatives, hearing the gossip from the Deanery Synod and understanding how we put all your money to good use.
We are hoping to slip in a few jokes and funny videos too to liven the event up. Nearer the time we will provide details of how you can join the party online but, for now, it’s time to start thinking of your guest list (while remembering the new guidelines).
