As a way of marking the journey of these last few months we are facilitating a community ‘remembering’ project by building a stone cairn in the church garden. We are inviting individuals and groups (local community organisations, preschools etc.) to paint a stone with a memory from lockdown to place in the cairn, and we’d love the St Mark’s Church family to be a part of this too. You don’t need to be a great artist! A simple picture or even a word or a name is fine, and we’d love you to write a little of your story to go with it – this could be in the form of a poem, audio file or video.
If you are around next Saturday (12th September) we’ll be preparing the area for the cairn – if you would like to come and help please do – or do come and collect a stone for painting while we are there between 10am and 1pm. Nicola will also place a few stones by her front door at home for you to come and take when you are passing! There is a poster and an example for you to see what we’re thinking about… and you can read more about the project in this month’s edition of the Kourier.
Please let us know if you are painting a stone and we will send you a story sheet. For further information or if you need a stone delivered, do get in touch with Debbie Veel, Nicola or contact us here or 01256 840502. There’ll be more information via the website from next week.
